You can envision and achieve a better future for yourself and your family. You can build resources for a better life.
What is Getting Ahead?
Getting Ahead is a community of people who will support and challenge you as you envision a better future. It begins with a 12-week work group that investigates:
- The impact poverty has had on you
- How to build your personal resources
- How to move through the stages of change
- Ways to open doors for work
- How to budget your money
- How to improve communication skills
Interest free loans are available for Getting Ahead participants through the Pay it Forward program. Participants can move toward achieving their goals and build positive credit at the same time with affordable loans and no interest charges.
You will create your own future story and set goals to make it a reality. You will be supported throughout the process by others transforming their futures with you AND by caring Allies who connect you to other resources in the community. Email transformers@gobinumc.org for more information.
Getting Ahead meets every Thursday from 6-8pm at Gobin Church and includes a free meal and childcare.
