Summer Enrichment Program

For over three decades, the Summer Enrichment Program in Putnam County, a United Way agency, has provided a safe haven and a vital safety net for children with identified risk factors.

For five weeks, approximately 65 children participate in various enrichment activities focusing on fine arts, science, sports, social skills and more. As well, each child receives breakfast and lunch daily along with a weekend food package to take home on Fridays.

An Education Director and Assistant Director, along with counselors and mentors, work in small groups with the participating children. Field trips are experienced to such places as the Indianapolis Zoo, the Peeler Art Museum, the Putnam County Museum, the Putnam County Library, the Greencastle Fire Dept. and many more. As well, the children receive swimming lessons and pool time through a partnership with the Greencastle Aquatic Center.

The bonds created during the program are so strong that many mentors, counselors and children return year after year.
